Bye Auckland! Hello Melbourne!

Time just fly! After 4 weeks in Auckland and now I’m already in Melbourne.

I enjoyed Auckland very much. Beside a good project, I managed to meet up with my cousins, my old friends and make some more new friends as well. I love Auckland because people there are very friendly and easy going. I hope I can visit Auckland again in the future.

Now I’m in Melbourne. Although it is a very nice hotel and it is right in front of the airport, which means, it is very far away from the town. I have heard so much about Melbourne, how it is a nice city, etc. Unfortunately, because it is a short project and I don’t think I’d have much time to see the city at all.

The room is very nice and spacious. However, I have the view on the other side of the building (not facing the runway), which is facing a massive carpark. So instead of counting the flights, I have been counting the cars at the carpark….lol… But, frankly speaking, it is still a nice view because there was no building around, giving you a very open space feeling and I can almost see the city from here. The lights at night make it even more wonderful.

It is the horse racing carnival weekend here, which apparently is a big thing in Melbourne or in Australia. My team mates went to the race, where everybody will dress up, guys in suit, women each had a tastefully designed hair piece to go along with their dress. Of course, nobody really cares about the race; they are there to get pissed only. I didn’t go because I was really tired from my night shift last week and early flight that morning. So I slept in.

However, in the evening, I met up with my team mates in town for more drinking for them. Actually, my impression of Australia before was not very good, I think it didn’t change much at all in Melbourne either. First, the weather was really shitty (even today) and secondly, I thought Singapore Taxi was bad, Melbourne is even worst!! It is very hard to get a taxi and when you got one, they just refuse to take you if you are not going very far!

Anyway, I still hope I will have a good time in Australia.
